In 2002, I started volunteering for the University of Victoria student newspaper, The Martlet. As an undergraduate student, I worked as a reporter for The Victoria News, the Interior News (Smithers, BC), and the Peninsula News Review (Sidney, BC). I had a paid internship for Victoria’s alternative newsweekly, Monday Magazine, which led to regular freelancing gigs with them. I also freelanced for the University of Victoria’s alumni magazine. Of all the articles I wrote during that time, here’s three:
2008. “Putting Voting to a Vote: Prof. Dennis Pilon makes the case for electoral reform.” UVic Torch Alumni Magazine. Spring 2008, Volume 29, Number 1.
2005. “Catching Dreams: Adolescent girls, their health issues, and a voice of experience – keys to a mentoring strategy created by Nursing Prof. Elizabeth Banister.” UVic Torch Alumni Magazine. Spring 2005, Volume 26, Number 1
2004. “Community Group Pushes the Limits of Urban Agriculture.” Monday Magazine. July 22.
